REGIMont project will create collaborative network to promote mountain landscape regeneration

REGIMont project will create collaborative network to promote mountain landscape regeneration
With unprecedented European funding

Palombar will launch the REGiMont - Mountain Landscape Regeneration Centre project in April, which aims to create a collaborative network to facilitate partnerships between groups and individuals working on the regeneration and enhancement of the natural and man-made landscape of northern and central Portugal and Spain. Palombar is part of a group of 15 European organisations selected to apply the Regenerative Communities Fund (RCF), the first European fund dedicated specifically to supporting regenerative communities, which is financing this project.

With this project, which will run in 2026 and 2027 and cover the regions of Trás-os-Montes, Minho, Serra da Estrela and the Spanish autonomous communities of Galicia and Castile and León, Palombar aims to create partnerships rooted in integrated and targeted collaboration with the capacity to increase the regenerative impact of initiatives created in rural areas.

Collaborative cycle and working sessions

The project focuses on a collaborative cycle comprising three face-to-face meetings, designed to facilitate partnerships and dialogue between groups and individuals working on the regeneration of the natural and built landscape. These meetings will be linked by seven online sessions that will explore the topics to be worked on in greater depth.

The main themes proposed to guide the collaborative processes are: the regeneration and environmental conservation of landscapes, in order to increase climate resilience and reimagine territorial management; housing in rural areas; and eco-construction responses aimed at an affordable housing market.

The main objectives of the project are: to promote the submission of applications for new partnership projects; to prepare thematic manifestos; and to create a digital repository of skills and resources.

The registration period is now open and runs until 31 March

The project targets groups and individuals working in the areas of environmental, cultural and social regeneration, eco-construction and land management in northern and central Portugal and Spain. The registration period for the cycle and sessions is now open and runs until 31 March 2026. Participation is free of charge, however, as there is a limit to the number of participants, registration is mandatory and selected participants will be notified by 3 April. Travel and food expenses, as well as accommodation, are covered by the project.

About funding

The REGiMont project, coordinated by Palombar, is funded by the Regenerative Communities Fund (RCF), the first European fund dedicated specifically to supporting regenerative communities, promoted by ECOLISE - European Network of Community-Led Initiatives on Climate Change and Sustainability, co-funded by the European Union under the Funding Fairer Futures (FFF) programme. The RCF was designed in 2024 to strengthen community-led responses to the climate and ecological crisis by supporting locally based organisations in five European countries: Portugal, Spain, France, Croatia and Finland.

Palombar selected to apply pioneering fund

Palombar is part of a group of 15 European organisations selected as RCF ‘Demonstrators’, recognised for their experience in community regeneration and their ability to welcome, inspire and support other emerging initiatives.

By participating in REGiMont, collectives and individual participants will actively contribute to building an informal European network that brings together Portugal, Spain, France, Croatia and Finland in promoting more just, inclusive and regenerative communities.
