Palombar - Nature and Rural Heritage Conservation will hold, at the beginning of May, four awareness-raising sessions on the protection of the Montagu's harrier (Circus pygargus), aimed at farmers on the Mirandese plateau, a key area for the conservation of this species in northern Portugal.

The main aim of these sessions is to involve local farmers in the protection and conservation of this species, which is beneficial to agricultural production and which depends on the habitat of the cereal fields for its survival, so that they become active agents and collaborate with nature conservation experts to ensure that, together, the cereal fields maintain their biodiversity. Issues related to the guidelines of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and its convergence with the promotion of a productive and environmentally sustainable agriculture will also be addressed.
