World Wildlife Day - Return of Griffon Vulture to Nature

Palombar - Nature and Rural Heritage Conservation and the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF), to mark the World Wildlife Day, March 3, are carrying out a joint action of return to nature of a griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) that will take place on March 24, at 14h00, at the Castle of Castro Laboreiro, in Melgaço (district of Viana do Castelo), and will be attended by several entities. The griffon vulture was recovering at the Wildlife Recovery Centre of Gerês.
The activity, which was scheduled to be held on March 3, was postponed to March 24 due to adverse weather conditions existing on the original date.
This action aims to raise community awareness about the importance of the griffon vulture, one of the three species of vultures that occur in Portugal.
