Students from the British School in Porto do voluntary work at Palombar
A group of young students from the British School in Porto carried out volunteer activities at the non-governmental environmental organization Palombar - Nature and Rural Heritage Conservation, on June 28 and 29. The fundamental contribution made by these young people came under the scope of regular volunteering actions promoted by the British School and which benefited Palombar on those two days.

The youngsters and the teachers that accompanied them were able to learn about the work developed by the environmental NGO and also carried out maintenance work in traditional dovecotes, namely the whitewashing of two of these iconic structures of the Trás-os-Montes region and of the village of Uva, in the municipality of Vimioso, where the Palombar headquarters are located.

Palombar believes that volunteering based on an educational approach is essential for volunteers to have a greater awareness of their transformative role as active agents in promoting nature and rural heritage conservation.

With a great spirit of mutual help and mission, the young people assimilated knowledge about the built and natural heritage of the region and ended the two days of volunteer work convinced of the importance of their actions. Palombar gives a very special thanks to the British School in Porto, to the volunteer students and to the teachers who contributed to accomplish, together, our common mission: to conserve nature and the rural heritage.
