LIFE Rupis

Palombar - Nature and Rural Heritage Conservation is one of the partner entities of the cross-border project 'LIFE Rupis - Egyptian Vulture and Bonellis Eagle Conservation in Douro/Duero Canyon', which is financed by the European Union, through the LIFE Program, and coordinated by SPEA - Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds.
The main objective is the conservation of Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus) and Bonelli’s eagle (Aquila fasciata) in the Douro river valley, through measures that intend to reduce the mortality of these species and increase their reproductive success.
The LIFE Rupis project has seven other partners: the Transhumance and Nature Association (ATNatureza), the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF), the Junta de Castilla y León, the Castilla y León Natural Heritage Foundation, the Vulture Conservation Foundation (VCF), EDP - Portuguese electric utilities company and the National Republican Guard (GNR). Co-financing Environmental Fund - Ministry of Environment and Energy Transition.
