The main objectives of this project are:
- Promote the restoration of cork oak forests, through the conversion of eucalyptus plantations to this habitat in the intervened area;
- Improve and conserve the soil in the model area to increase its resilience to climate change and the risk of fire, by combating desertification, through reforestation and actions that promote increased carbon and nutrient fixation in the soil to recover its ecological function;
- Create the Algoso Local Composting Station, in order to increase organic matter in the soil and enhance its regeneration;
- Ensure better and more effective sustainable management and conservation of the area and its natural resources.
The project will carry out soil, habitat and biodiversity assessment and monitoring of the intervention area to promote the holistic restoration of the local ecosystem.
